Experience
- I have worked as a Behaviour Support Practitioner since 2023.
- I describe my practice style as behaviour-focused, collaborative, culturally responsive, empowering, evidence-based, functional, holistic, person-centred, practical, sensory-informed, skill-building, social skills-focused, strength and conditioning, strengths-based and trauma-informed, tailoring my approach to meet each participant's unique needs.
- In my free time, I like to spend time camping, going to live music gigs, hiking, learning new skills, reading and with my dog which often helps me build rapport with participants.
- My participants often describe me as approachable, confident, dedicated, empathetic, friendly, inclusive, kind, knowledgeable, patient, positive, reliable, respectful, trustworthy, understanding and warm, reflecting my commitment to creating a supportive environment.
What I like most about supporting people:
What I love most about my role is observing the positive outcomes that my support provides to my participants (reduction in behaviours, improvements in quality of life etc). I enjoy engaging with my participants and developing a trusting and positive professional relationship with them. I love collaborating with relevant stakeholders around how to best support my participants and developing professional relationships with a lot of them also. Supporting people with a disability gives me purpose and it is an extremely rewarding job each and every day.
