Experience
- I have worked as a Behaviour Support Practitioner since 2011.
- I describe my practice style as culturally responsive, developmental, empowering, evidence-based, family-centred, goal-oriented, holistic, interactive, neurodiversity-affirming, person-centred, play-based, sensory-informed, strengths-based and trauma-informed, tailoring my approach to meet each participant's unique needs.
- In my free time, I like to spend time crafting, learning new skills and reading which often helps me build rapport with participants.
- My participants often describe me as cheerful, compassionate, confident, creative, dedicated, empathetic, encouraging, energetic, inclusive, kind, trustworthy and understanding, reflecting my commitment to creating a supportive environment.
What I like most about supporting people:
What I like most about supporting people with disability is the opportunity to empower individuals to live life on their own terms. I love being able to listen, advocate, and problem-solve, ensuring that people have access to the supports they need while respecting their autonomy and personal goals. Seeing someone's confidence grow, watching them achieve milestones, and knowing that I've played a role in removing barriers and amplifying their voice is incredibly rewarding. Every person’s journey is unique, and I feel privileged to be a part of it.
