Experience
- I have worked as a Behaviour Support Practitioner since 1997.
- I describe my practice style as behaviour-focused, collaborative, culturally responsive, evidence-based, family-centred, goal-oriented, holistic, neurodiversity-affirming, sensory-informed, skill-building, strengths-based and trauma-informed, tailoring my approach to meet each participant's unique needs.
- In my free time, I like to spend time going to live music gigs, going to the gym, staying fit, swimming and with my dog which often helps me build rapport with participants.
- My participants often describe me as adaptable, approachable, cheerful, compassionate, confident, empathetic, energetic, engaging, flexible, motivational, patient, respectful, trustworthy and understanding, reflecting my commitment to creating a supportive environment.
What I like most about supporting people:
Every person is unique and teaches me something about myself and gives me satisfaction that I am part of their journey. Supporting the people around the participant and helping them achieve understanding and confidence through trust, shared experiences and knowledge, in the end relationships are formed...and that is what it's all about.
I enjoy the differing challenges and the other professionals I liaise with. It's a passion not just a job.
