Experience
- I have worked with people with disability since 2023.
- I describe my practice style as adaptive, behaviour-focused, coaching, collaborative, culturally responsive, developmental, empowering, evidence-based, family-centred, functional, goal-oriented, holistic, interactive, motivational, neurodiversity-affirming, person-centred, practical, sensory-informed, skill-building, social skills-focused, strength and conditioning, strengths-based, task-oriented and trauma-informed, tailoring my approach to meet each participant's unique needs.
- In my free time, I like to spend time dancing, going to the gym and with family or friends which often helps me build rapport with participants.
- My participants often describe me as approachable, cheerful and collaborative, reflecting my commitment to creating a supportive environment.
What I like most about supporting people:
Katie works closely with families and support networks, providing coaching to build capacity in responding to behaviours of concern, particularly in high-stress environments. She is experienced in school-based collaboration, including MDT facilitation, classroom observations, and implementation of practical strategies to support engagement and reduce escalation.
Katie is passionate about empowering participants to develop independence, build meaningful relationships, and feel a strong sense of identity and control in their lives.
Katie says:
“I enjoy helping people feel like they are in control of their life and have the confidence to be their authentic self, while building the skills they need to navigate challenges in a way that works for them.”
